Pipeline Safety: Husky Production Advances Undermined By Oil Spill

Local state of emergency declared

Working hand in hand with Canadian federal and provincial officials, representatives from Husky are working on cleaning up the 1,570 bbl spill into the North Saskatchewan river. The city of Prince Albert has declared a local state of emergency, and has set up an emergency water line to connect with the South Saskatchewan River.

About half of the heavy oil and diluent has been recovered, according to Husky.

While we deplore the damage to the local environment, and the impact on local residents lives due to this spill, we commend Husky on their quick response time. As always, we believe strongly in utilizing software technology options to improve safety and reporting in the industry.
