Refinery Documentation: Chemical Reform Law – Regulated Businesses To Face Expanded Information Collection And Reporting To EPA

Enacted by Congress and signed into law by President Obama, this new law expands EPA authority

Regulating the manufacture, importation, and processing of chemicals while strengthening the EPA’s ability to evaluate and regulate potentially hazardous chemicals, these new regulations give the EPA authority to order testing and ensure chemicals are safe. Mandatory, enforceable deadlines for the EPA to complete reviews of new chemicals before they go to market have also been set, and the new law gives states broad authority in the absence of EPA action.

Industry groups are also pleased, citing this as a major upgrade and modernization of regulatory operations.
