Refinery Safety: Injury at Marathon’s Galveston Bay Refinery

Contract worker injured by electric shock, revived by refinery emergency personnel, taken to area hospital

As always, we’re happy to note that refinery safety protocols and response teams were able to take care of this potentially dangerous situation professionally and with great haste.

The Galveston Bay refinery’s coking complex and two hydrotreating units are shut down through the middle of August for planned work. The injured party is an employee of Analytic Stress Relieving Inc, which provides heat treating services to refineries and petrochemical companies.

Improvements in documentation and management thereof, along with new and improved safety systems such as our UTL are instrumental in reducing workplace injuries, such as this.
