Refinery Safety: California Refiners Face Stricter Safety Rules

Regulator proposals focus on strengthening workplace and environmental safety at oil refineries statewide.

Following the August 2012 Chemical Release fire at Chevron Corp.’s Richmond, CA refinery, a multi-agency task force was formed to focus on refinery safety, specifically preventing major incidents at refineries, and protecting plant workers and surrounding communities from exposure to health and safety risks.
